Tech4i2 IE is leading a study for the European Commission examining the value of cloud based data flows. This study builds on previous Tech4i2 research which developed a methodology to map and monitor data flows within the EU, EFTA countries and the UK. See the previous report at https://op.europa.eu/en/publication-detail/-/publication/c27f0202-da43-11ec-a95f-01aa75ed71a1/language-en or the data visualisation tool presenting results from the study at https://digital-strategy.ec.europa.eu/en/policies/european-data-flow-monitoring.
Like the previous study, the new research is focussing on enterprise data flows to the main cloud and edge data centres from 2016, with forecasts to 2030. The new study is focussing on the economic values of cloud based data flows within the EU (i.e. intra-EU data flows) and between the EU and its key strategic, economic and trading third country partners (i.e. extra-EU data flows).
